This year marks the 75th Anniversary of Ed "Porky" Oliver's 1940 win at the Phoenix Open. Trailing Ben Hogan by 4 strokes after 36 holes, Porky's 64 in the third and final round was enough to win by one stroke for the first place prize of $700 (a far cry from the $1.13 million prize in this year's event). The win was his second of eight career PGA tour wins. He would go on to once again beat Hogan (this time by 3) for first place, and $1,000, the following year at the same event.
In honor of this anniversary our greens fees are just $19.40 through Sunday 2/1/15. Just mention this blog to get your discount at the counter. And if it's too cold for you to play, come on over to Greenhill Pub to watch this year's Phoenix Open!
